Contract signed for upgrading the Tromsø tunnels

Troms and Finnmark County Council yesterday entered into a contract for the rehabilitation of the Tromsø tunnels with the contractor company Bertelsen & Garpestad AS.

- This is a milestone in the work to create an efficient and safe tunnel system in the city of Tromsø, says county councilor for transport Agnete Masternes Hanssen (Ap).

Divided into two phases:

Phase 1 will start on 21 August 2023 and means that the Breivika, Hansjordnes and Mellom tunnels will close from this date.

Phase 2 starts on 8 September 2024 and means that the Langnestunnel and the Sentrumtangenten will then be closed. The Breivika and Hansjordnes tunnels will then open.

The intermediate tunnel will be closed in both phases. The project will be completed in autumn 2025. The financial framework for the project is NOK 1,045 million.
