Planned Vizhinjam line to be 2nd longest rail tunnel in India

    Draft plan proposes a rail link between Vizhinjam International Seaport on Kerala's southern coast. The length of rail link is 10,7 kilometers and most of it is a tunnel: 9,02 kilometer long tunnel.

    The drat plan has been proposed to the Southern Railway Authorities in Chennai by Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL) MD Dr Jayakumar. The work is rewarded to Konkan rail Corporation for a tender period of 42 months.
