Minister of Transport, Lucian Bode estimates that in May the Romanian government will go for the tender for the design and execution of the planned Meseş tunnel. This is reported by Romania's Agerpres (link is at the bottom).
It is understood that the ministry has started the process for approvals at National Agency for Public Procurement etc until then.
The twin tube Meseş tunnel with a length of a 2.89 km will be the longest tunnel in Romania and will be part of the Salaj route of the Transylvania Highway. Estimated cost is around 269 m Euro.
It is understood from the words of Florin Scarlat, the director of the National Company of Road Infrastructure Management (CNAIR), that during the tender preparation foreign technical expertise has been used (I could not find which companies were involved in this phase).
