Excavation of 1.8km-long Manali Tunnel under the mountain between Rainsnala to Dwada in Mandi is done. This is a success for Indian construction company Afcons under most difficult geology.

The tunnel lies on the strategic Chandigarh-Manali highway. It is important for transporting troops fast to the border areas of Ladakh region in case of a conflict.
