Russia's pesident Putin made clear in a meeting with his government members he wants no reasons for modernization of BAM and Transsib railways.

Most important bottleneck for the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM) and the Trans Siberian Railway (Transsib) is the one track Severomuisky tunnel. There are plans for a long time for a second tunnel Severomuisky 2. But at 200 billion rubles too expensive.

The construction project of the Severomuisky 2 tunnel was personal project of Russian businessman Dmitry Bosov, the creator and co-owner of the Sibanthracite group and Vostokugol management company. He wanted to double its coal production and transport it to east. He was planning to finance the construction of the Severomuisky 2 tunnel. But he suicided after the detention of the businessman Anatoly Bykov in Krasnoyarsk who was also a participant of "Aliminum wars" in 90s.

In the government meeting Putin focused on solving problem of exporting coal from Yakutia and Buryatia. President said If the Severomuisky tunnel is expensive, .... “Today we discussed with Marat [Khusnullin] - you can just make a detour there, and that's all, and a small tunnel there needs to be done only at the entrance to the port, and that's it,” according to 1sn.

Upon hearing as worker shortage for projects being delayed, Putin questioned why people fro Central Asian countries not brought in.
