The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
Responsibilities
Serve as lead architect for the design of transportation system features, namely stations, from conceptual design through construction/certificate of occupancy. Includes design and placement of elevators and escalators.
Lead in the selection of architectural coatings, materials, and finishes including lighting. Responsible for project look and feel.
Ensure compliance with applicable building codes (e.g., ADA, fireproofing, etc.) for tunnels and stations.
Coordinate project design and implementation with engineering specialties (civil, electrical, mechanical, automotive) for integrated design and functionality.
Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
Work closely with project construction manager to oversee the implementation of design and adjust for changes as needed.
Perform design using applicable software programs, as needed, in addition to managing work products by design personnel.
Document project changes and present change orders to owner as needed.
Basic Qualifications
BArch / MArch Degree or equivalent
Licensed architect
6+ years professional design experience in high quality commercial or hospitality projects. Mixed-use residential, cultural, and institutional experience also will be considered
Knowledge and experience working with local building code, ADA guidelines, zoning, and other applicable laws
Preferred Skills and Experience
Proficiency in CAD, BIM, and/or other applicable design programs.
Nevada licensed architect OR currently eligible for license reciprocity (i.e., seismic design requirement fulfilled)
Experience working as lead architect for relevant projects
Experience in station architecture and design for transportation projects is a plus
