The Jacobs Ground Engineering Group is committed to the provision of the full scope of specialist geotechnical and tunnelling services across APME and driving integration with our other design disciplines to deliver value for clients. We ensure we continually develop our staff expertise in tunnel construction methods, design, analysis and specialist software to help our clients create underground space safely and economically. In this role you’ll primarily provide tunnel design and management skills, work collaboratively with other members of the ground engineering and wider transport teams and other discipline groups within Jacobs. Work in & manage projects and provide mentoring and guidance to less experienced engineers, provide key inputs to projects, designs, tenders and marketing activities to external and internal clients.

 

Your key responsibilities will also include:

  • Direct, review and assess (and, if need be, carry out) analysis of structural and geotechnical engineering problems, particularly those related to tunnels and soil-structure interaction
  • Apply understanding of structural and geotechnical principles to deliver practical and economical solutions to our clients
  • Develop links with internal and external clients to create opportunities for further works 

About you

You’ll have previous work experience covering a variety of tunnel infrastructure projects delivered in various contract models, including experience in Design & Construction projects. You’ll enjoy the challenge of delivering complex projects on time and in budget and also providing guidance and mentoring to junior engineers. You’ll thrive on creating a partnership with our clients to deliver on their project needs.

 

Key requirements for the role:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or related discipline
  • Masters in Geotechnical Engineering or similar (advantageous)
  • Specialist tunnel designer
  • Chartered Professional Engineer
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and provide relevant and appropriate mentoring to more junior staff to promote their career development
