    Project Overview:

    Saudi Arabian Bechtel Company will provide project management consultancy services (including technical, commercial and construction management) for the development of certain defined aspects of the NEOM Infrastructure in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.  

    NEOM is a planned cross-border city in the Tabuk Province of northwestern Saudi Arabia. The site is near the Red Sea and the borders of Egypt, Israel and Jordan. It will cover a total area of 26,500 km2 (10,200 sq mi) and will extend 460 km along the coast of the Red Sea.”

    NEOM will be the home and workplace to more than a million residents from around the world. It will include towns and cities, ports and enterprise zones, research centres, sports and entertainment venues, and tourist destinations. As a hub for innovation, entrepreneurs, business leaders and companies will come to research, incubate and commercialize new technologies and enterprises in ground-breaking ways.

    Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

    • Should have extensive experience with Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering and Tunnel design, in-depth knowledge of construction techniques, and excellent project management skills.
    • Perform calculations for which design drawings, specifications and reports are generated
    • Undertaking design and analysis support for tunnel fire and life safety systems including tunnel ventilation, standpipe, and deluge systems/
    • Drafting technical reports in a range of engineering areas, including feasibility studies, basis of design reports and technical analysis
    • Technical delivery of tunnel work packages to budget, timescale, and quality requirements
    • Liaise with and support the team leaders, Design Manager, and other stakeholders to successfully deliver project
    • Key technical interface with contractor and other stakeholders
    • Provide detailed design of tunnels and structures
    • Monitor HSSE aspects of construction activities
    • Meeting with the engineering team to discuss the scope and scale of the project.
    • Creating rough draft designs and listing possible engineering tasks.
    • Finalizing the tunnel design and managing all engineering tasks.
    • Assisting with the drafting of IDRIS Preliminary Design Reports.
    • Obtaining the necessary permits and approvals for the project.
    • Developing tender documents for the project.
    • Assisting with the qualification of potential contractors.
    • Providing contractors with technical drawings and engineering documents.
    • Conducting on-site safety and progress inspections.
    • Providing program support and resolving construction issues.
    • Proven work experience as a tunnel engineer.
    • Experience with tunnel construction in hard and soft rock conditions.
    • Experience with tunnel construction in hard and soft rock conditions.
    • In-depth knowledge of NATM and TBM excavation techniques.
    • Knowledge of trenchless construction.
    • Detailed knowledge of geology and structural engineering.
    • Excellent project management skills.
    • Proficient with CAD and AutoCAD design software.

    Qualifications:

    • A recognized degree in Civil engineering from an accredited college or university, preferable post graduate qualification.
    • Professional qualification, such as Chartered Engineer, accredited from a recognized licensing board.
    • Minimum 11 years relevant working experience, which should include extensive tunnelling design and construction experience, including supervision of major infrastructure projects. The experience should include drill & blasting through strong rock and poor ground conditions.
