On November 29, “Dream”, the world's largest vertical shaft sinking machine(VSM) developed and manufactured by CRCHI rolled off the production line in Changsha, Hunan Province. The VSM Dream is about 10 meters high as a whole and its excavation diameter is 23.02 meters, which is the largest in the world so far, filling the global gap of TBM product range, and marking a new stage in the scientific and technological research of China's underground engineering equipment.
The VSM Dream integrates excavation, mucking, lining, guidance and other functions, and is applicable to the construction of super large diameter vertical shaft in soft soil and soft rock formation. Its overall technology has reached the international advanced level, and it is designed with full sealing and high pressure bearing. During the construction, the machine will dive into the water to excavate soil. The maximum excavation depth can be up to 80 meters. At the same time, it has the capacity of variable diameter excavation. It will be applied in the construction of underground smart garage in Jing'an District, Shanghai.
In recent years, the construction of people's livelihood projects, such as sponge cities and underground smart garages, have been accelerated in various regions, and there are more and more super diameter and ultra deep shaft projects. Previously, domestic and foreign manufacturers have developed VSM with an excavation diameter of 13 to 14 meters for mechanized shaft construction, but it is the first time in the world to develop a super-large-diameter VSM with an excavation diameter of 15 meters or more.
In order to meet the demand of super large diameter excavation of the project and ensure the efficiency of shaft excavation, the R&D team of CRCHI has broken through the design technology of complete sets of mechanical shaft sinking equipment for super large diameter shafts, enhanced the reliability of underwater construction of the machine, and solved the problem of difficult control of the sinking attitude of traditional shaft sinking method. Compared with the traditional shaft sinking method of manual excavation, the mechanized shaft sinking operation adopted by the VSM Dream can realize“no people under the shaft and few people on the ground”, so as to achieve the target of "well builders don’t need to go down the well", saving more than 50% of the construction cost, and effectively improving the safety of construction operations.
It is reported that the underground smart garage in Jing'an District, Shanghai covers an area of 286㎡ on the ground, 1408㎡ under ground, and 19 floors in total. Two deep foundation pit shafts with a diameter of 23 meters and a buried depth of 53 meters are planned to be built. Each shaft is equipped with 152 mechanical parking lots, and the entrance and exit floor and equipment rooms are set on the ground. After the completion, it will become the world’s largest diameter underground smart garage which is constructed by vertical shaft sinking method.
