    Statens vegvesen Tunnel rehabilitation

    Statens Vegvesen (Norwegian Public Roads Administration) awards the NOK 140 million tunnel rehabilitation contract to HAS Construction AS.

    Press release of Statens vegvesen (translated to English) reads;

    HAB is going to rehabilitate tunnels

    For several years, the Statens Vegvesen has worked to rehabilitate the tunnels in Oslo. Many are fully rehabilitated and a few remain. This summer, the village and the Sjølystlokket on the E18 turn.

    Two companies fought for the contract, but it was the Lysaker company HAB Construction AS that drew the longest straw. The contract, which has a value of NOK 140 million, includes upgrading and rehabilitation of infrastructure and technical facilities at E18 southwest of Oslo. HAB Construction AS was 109 million cheaper than Isachsen Anlegg AS that they competed against.

    -We are very pleased with the contract. We are now looking forward to rigging ourselves to get started on the work, says CEO. Christian Tanum in HAB. Tanum and development director in the Statens Vegvesen, Kjell Inge Davik signed the contract electronically.

    -Now is the interaction meeting that is the next point on the plan. It will happen in late March. During the collaboration meeting, we will work our way through the contract together. We will talk about and discuss the points in the contract we see can present challenges and we will become better known, says project manager Elin Hermanstad Havik in the Statens Vegvesen.

    Background for upgrading

    The village cap was first rebuilt in the 50s and 60s and later rebuilt in the 2000s. The sea lid was completed in 2003.

    The village lid consists of a concrete cap over the E18. The E18 goes under the lid and has four lanes, two in each direction. At the top of the lid there is a roundabout. The concrete structure at Bygdøy is ripe for rehabilitation.

    The sea lid was completed in 2003 and consists of a concrete cap over the E18. The E18 goes under the lid and has three lanes in each direction. In addition, there are departure ramps at the west end of the lid. Up on the lid there are green areas and walkways. The sea lid is 167 meters long and approx. 30 meters wide.

    The Hoffselva crosses the Sjølystloket under the E18 in pipes and leads the water into the Bestumkilen. The pipe is in poor condition and has caused sentence damage to the E18 lane. The pipe walk is also a bottleneck against Bestumkilen, and does not meet new requirements for dimensioning for 200-year floods.

    What should be done?

    Hoffselva crosses in pipes under E18. This tube is old and ripe for replacement. To do this, the E18 stages must be excavated and existing pipes are replaced with a larger prefabricated concrete culvert. This will increase the water capacity and thus reduce the risk of flooding in the Hoffselva. The work will start in June and will continue 24 hours a day until the end of August.

    Over time, the village cap has been damaged in the concrete. These damage should be repaired. In addition, the roadway to the E18 under the Bygdøylock will be lowered so that the free height is larger.

    Electrical installations, cables and lighting should be replaced with new lids. Some new signs and portals will also be erected on Ring 3.
