    Job Introduction

    The Area Tunnel Engineering Team sits independently from the Area Tunnel Delivery Team and provides technical support and management to the tunnelling operation, both for the Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL) and Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) tunnel drives across the project.

    The Area Tunnel Engineering Team is led by the Tunnel Engineering Manager who has specific responsibility for a specific tunnel drive, or series of tunnel drives. The Senior Tunnel Engineer sits within the Tunnel Engineering Team, reporting directly to the Tunnel Engineering Manager.

     

    Role Responsibility

    The role of the Senior Tunnel Engineer is to manage the Shift Review Group process, including running the SRG, MAT meetings, contributing to the CTC meetings as directed by the Tunnel Engineering Manager.

    The role of Senior Tunnel Engineer is a technical management position. Technical interfaces with various internal and external stakeholders will be a key part of the role and the Senior Tunnel Engineer will be representing the SCS JV as part of this role.

    Specific Responsibilities

    Their specific duty is to manage the Shift Review Group process, including running the SRG, MAT meetings, contributing to the CTC meetings as directed by the TEM.

    • For the TBM tunnels, producing the DTAP sheets in accordance with the tunnel drive drawings;  reporting on compliance
    • Coordinating the inputs to the SRG
    • Coordination with the Area Based I&M Engineering Manager to ensure works are covered
    • Managing the interface with MissionOS and TBM management software to ensure that monitoring data and TBM data is captured and available
    • Providing the information to the Tunnelling Engineering Manager for the production of the ‘drive’ report and collating the inputs to the Daily Shift Review Groups (SRG)
    • Engineering review of RAMS / ITPs as directed by the Tunnelling Engineering Manager

    Being a member of the Engineering Management team provides opportunity to contribute into other aspects of this discipline; such as Asset Protection, Instrumentation and Monitoring, etc and provide direction, advice and support to the associated design and construction teams as appropriate.

    • Construction experience (essential)
    • Management experience (essential)
    • Tunnelling experience (essential)
    • Engineering or Design Management experience (desirable)
    • Management of ground movement experience (desirable)
    • Chartered (or near Chartered) member of the ICE or equivalent (desirable)
    • Temporary works experience  (desirable)
