CREG: Macao's First Shield Method Constructed Tunnel Breakthrough

On February 20, with the precise arrival of the "CREC Macao No.1" shield machine at the design point, the installation of the last ring segment was completed. The shield section of the sewage interception pipe project in Macao's new port area, designed by China Railway Liuyuan Group and constructed by China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group and China Railway Tunnel Group, was completed. 

The project starts from the NAPE/EP3A sewage pumping station near the UNESCO Center on the north side of Song Yusheng Square and ends at the Heishahuan Sewage Treatment Plant. The main construction content is to set up a sewage pipeline with a total length of about 2560 meters and an inner diameter of 2 meters between the starting and ending points. The Friendship Dama section is constructed by the shield method, and the shield tunnel is excavated by a shield machine with an outer diameter of 3.38 meters, with a length of 2279 meters. 

The first tunnel project was designed and constructed by the shield method in Macao Special Administrative Region. It has the characteristics of a narrow construction site, complex underground pipelines, many small radius turns of the line, complex geology of the reclamation area, and high social concern. It passes through many tall buildings and famous scenic spots along the project. 

After the completion of the project, the capacity of the sewage discharge system in the new port area will be enhanced, and the problem of sewage overflow at the outer port terminal that has long plagued Macao citizens will be effectively solved.
