    Statens vegvesen Hagantunnelen

Statens vegvesen (The Norwegian Public Roads Administration) has announced the mission to mount new lights, new cable bridges and new mountain bolts in the Hagant tunnel. The job will be done during the summer and autumn.

The older light fixtures are now replaced with LED lighting. At the same time, the cable bridges and mountain bolts are replaced in the ceiling. The new ones are in stainless steel, to ensure longevity. Good for traffic safety and economy.

-New LED lighting means that road users will experience the tunnel as lighter and more comfortable to drive in. A lighter tunnel is also a safer tunnel, says project manager Lars Magnar Allergodt in the Statens vegvesen.

He emphasizes that it is also profitable for society to replace the old lighting. LED technology requires less power than the 20-year-old lighting in the tunnel. It will be especially noticeable financially with today's electricity prices and lights that are around the clock. It is also no longer possible to obtain light sources for today's lighting that meet the requirements of the regulations to avoid environmental toxins, such as mercury.

    Work at night and night

Every day, an average of 14,500 cars drive through the Hagant tunnel. It limits when the contractor who gets the assignment can work.

    - It is necessary to close for traffic when there is work in the tunnel. The contractor is therefore only allowed to work between 2 p.m. 21 and 06, when there is less traffic. Otherwise, the tunnel should be open, but with a reduced speed limit to 50 km/h, says Allergodt.

During parts of the construction period, the tunnel becomes dark and reduced speed limit is important for the safety of road users.

Implementation plan after contract signing The job is awarded the contractor who fulfills the qualification requirements and has the lowest price on the assignment. The plan for implementation and traffic congestion is laid down by Statens vegvesen and the contractor jointly when the contract is signed. The contract requires that the work be completed by November 1. The deadline for delivering offers is May 5 at. 12.
