Norway: The new Skarvberg tunnel is to open for traffic

    Statens vegvesen, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration will be opening the new Skarvberg tunnel on the E69 in Porsanger. The facility will be opened by Transport Minister Jon-Ivar Nygård on Friday 26 May at a ceremony on the north side of the new tunnel.

    The E69 Skarvberg tunnel is located in Porsanger on the road to Nordkapp. It replaces the existing accident -prone Dagens tunnel and a landslide area along Skarvberget.

    The new The new Skarvberg tunnel is 3550 meters long including portals. has separate pedestrian and bicycle paths for increased traffic safety. In addition, 3330 meters of road has been built. the whole thing has cost the taxpayers 1,4 Billion Norwegian kroner.
