This is the release:
The Norwegian Road Administration is now starting a major job in and around the rv. 5 The Frudal tunnel between Sogndal and Fjærland. Five companies submitted bids for the job.
In January last year, a landslide destroyed the technical building on the Sogndal side of the Frudal tunnel
Now Statensvegvesen (the Norwegian Public Roads Administration) will move the building into the tunnel and also upgrade the lighting in the entrance to the tunnel. The Hovdebygda company Aurstad Tunnel AS has been awarded the contract for the assignment, which is scheduled to be completed at the end of November. Starts on the night of May 30
The construction work starts on the night of 30 May with the blasting of the niche. In weeks 28, 29 and 30, there will be a holiday at the facility and free traffic in the tunnel. After the holiday, work will take place both during the day and at night.
During the day we will dig, and at night blast and work with shotcrete. Traffic will be controlled by a guide car.
In connection with the blasting work, we have to close the tunnel for long periods. Road users are therefore encouraged to check 175.no before they go out and drive. Information will be provided here about when the tunnel is open for driving through. The detour route is long (via Gaularfjellet), and we will make sure to notify clearly and in good time.
- Many situations are better for everyone
- We understand that it can be demanding for road users with work in the Frudalstunnel, but there are many conditions that will be better for everyone as a result of the work, says project manager Sveinung Hovland in the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.
The Frudal tunnel has an average daily traffic of 1,604 vehicles. This is called year-round traffic (ÅDT). Of this, 22 per cent, or 352, are long vehicles (heavy traffic).
