The road operation season starts on 1 September throughout Norway. Mesta's people and machines are ready to work on both new and existing contracts.
Operation and maintenance contracts are, in short, about keeping the roads open and in good condition. This means plowing and spreading in the winter, cleaning and maintenance of green areas in the summer. Mesta has contracts from Arendal in the south to Kirkenes in the north.
Mesta is the market leader in the industry, and operates a total of 20,000 kilometers of road. The Norwegian Public Roads Administration and the county municipalities own the roads and are the clients of the contracts that Mesta carries out.
Ten new contracts for Mesta This spring, Mesta won ten new contracts: https://www.mesta.no/mesta-vinner-ti-nye-kontrakter/
- We are well prepared to deliver from day one in the new operating contracts, says executive vice president for operations and maintenance, Elin Vigrestad.
- We are out every day to "take care of what we have". Our goal is to get people across the country, continues Vigrestad. She points out that the roads are daily exposed to stress from traffic and changing weather.
- Torrential rain, as we have seen this summer, tests the road network and puts the storm water systems to the test, she says.
Slow down - pay attention
Vigrestad is concerned that road users must pay attention to roadworks.
- We ask that people on the roads slow down, follow the signs and behave appropriately towards our people who are out on the roads to improve them, says Vigrestad. She says that many of the machines used, such as plows and sweepers, drive considerably slower than the speed limit. Patience is then required from motorists.
