On August 21 , a new Slurry TBM built by CRCHI completed its fabrication in Changsha, Hunan. This equipment has a total length of 135 meters and an excavation diameter of 6.28 meters. It is the first shield tunnelling machine for the Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf, and will be applied in the construction of the D1 section tunnel of the project.
The D1 section tunnel of the Guangdong Water Resources Allocation Project in the Beibu Gulf has a total length of 10.19 kilometers, and the Slurry TBM needs to complete a excavation task of 3908.3 meters in length. This section mainly crosses through fully, strongly, and weakly weathered metamorphic sandstones, while the rest crosses through fault breccia and limestone formations, with a total of 25 developed faults. Long distance crossing through hard rock, uneven soft and hard strata, and dense water rich fault zones can easily cause construction risks such as instability of shield tunnelling machine and blockage of silos. Therefore, high requirements are placed on the attitude control ability and slag discharge performance of shield tunnelling machine.
In response to the above engineering difficulties, the R&D team of CRCHI has equipped the Slurry TBM with multiple advanced innovative technologies and numerous independent core/key technologies, especially the application of the "multi-access+multi circuit" new slag discharge mode design, which can effectively solve the problem of blockage of silo and pipe caused by large particles such as fracture zones lagging at the bottom of the excavation silo. The speed and safety of the shield tunnelling machine in complex geological conditions are effectively ensured .
It is reported that the Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf has the largest investment scale, longest water transmission line, most complex construction conditions, and most widely affected major water conservancy project in Guangdong to date. After the completion of the project, it will systematically solve the water shortage problem in the western Guangdong region, greatly improve the regional water supply capacity, significantly improve the regional water ecological environment. It is of great significance to enhance the comprehensive carrying capacity of the western wing of the coastal economic belt and accelerate the construction of the "One Core, One Belt, One Zone" regional development pattern.
Next, the Slurry TBM will be sent to the construction site of Section D1 of Water Resources Allocation Project around the Beibu Gulf, and will be assembled and debugged before starting excavation. CRCHI will continue to leverage its professional and technical advantages, and provide sincere services with rich experience to provide strong guarantees for the high-quality and safe excavation of this project.
