    The Project

    The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.1bn M6 Stage 1 project.  The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.

    With works commenced in early 2022, the M6 Stage 1 project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometre tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.

    The Opportunity

    The M6 Stage 1 project has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join the team. Reporting to the Mechanical Superintendent, this role is primarily responsible for Plant onboarding and compliance associated with the plant and equipment used for Civil & Tunnel Excavation, Back End Works and Mechanical & Electrical fit out. Your secondary responsibility in this role will involve managing Consignment stock for our Tunnel Plant.

    Key accountabilities will include:

    • Following the CPB ChekRite Plant onboarding compliance system.
    • Work with Project Supervisors to ensure plant is onboarded in a timely manner for flow of works.
    • Follow compliance with NSW transport TPR-G22 Truck and Plant Requirements.
    • Manage day to day work flow liaising with all subcontractors working on the project.
    • Identification of hazards and risks, and proactive completion of risk assessments and risk control measures.
    • Participate in the development of SWMS and procedures where required.
    • Ensuring high standards are maintained, systems followed and records kept and uploaded.
    • Report all major plant and equipment incidents or damage in a timely manner.
    • Learn the Safety Inspection systems and fulfill your KPI inspections on a monthly basis.
    • Attend daily prestart and weekly toolbox meetings.
    • Conduct formal and informal site safety walks and action any items that need rectification.
    • Supervise the work and provide clear instructions when required.
    • Manage Consignment stock and orders and deliveries.

     About You  

    • Demonstrated experience working on major infrastructure construction projects.
    • Demonstrated experience managing electronic work systems.
    • Demonstrated experience working as a team and show proven results best for company.
    • Proven experience demonstrating pro-active works in a high-pressure environment.
    • Experience working in underground environments and with tunnelling plant and equipment.
    • Must hold a Plant Mechanical trade Certificate with knowledge of major plant in the construction Industry.
    • Holder of NSW driver’s license.
    • General Construction Industry Induction.
    • Demonstrated experience complying with and driving a positive safety culture.
    • Willingness to provide coaching, training, and mentoring to project team.
    • Sound knowledge and experience using computer programs such as MS Excel and Word.
