The Government has submitted a proposal for the Storting on the development and financing of the E134 Oslofjord connection construction stage 2. The first construction phase included today's Oslofjord tunnel with associated roads and was opened for traffic in June 2000. The Oslofjord tunnel provided an alternative east-west road connection under the Drøbaksundet, out Between E6 and E18 in Akershus and Buskerud.

Construction stage 2 includes the construction of a new tunnel run in the Oslofjord tunnel in parallel with the existing tunnel run. There will be a connection between new and existing tunnel runs.

The project also includes the expansion of existing roads between the Moon and Vassum from two to four-lane roads with new races in the Frogntunnel and the Vassum tunnel. The project is a total of 14 km and the road is planned with a speed limit of 60 km/h at the Vassum tunnel, 90 km/h Vassum -Måna and 70 km/h through the Oslofjord tunnel (Moon - Verpen).

The construction starts in 2025 and opening for traffic in 2032.

    - The goal of the development is a safe crossing of the Oslo Fjord in the existing route for E134 and increased emergence by the uptime increasing to almost 100 per cent. The project will provide a significantly better traffic safety, especially because one removes the possibility of meeting accidents, says Nygård. Financing the project

The financing of the project E134 Oslofjord connection Construction stage 2 is based on state funds and toll money. The project is discussed among others in NTP 2022–2033. In this year's state budget, it is stated that the project will start with the premise that the Storting is committing proposals for partial toll funding and cost framework.
