Celebrating an incredible milestone with the Micro-Tunnelling Team in New Zealand.

Ghella micro-tunnelling team has once again achieved a remarkable feat by completing the final breakthrough on the Link Sewer tunnels for Watercare Central Interceptor project. They successfully finished tunnelling the 1100m long Link Sewer B, stretching from the Mt Albert War Memorial Park site to Rawalpindi Reserve, Mt Albert.

Ghella's 2.8m external diameter micro-Tunnel Boring Machine (mTBM), Domenica, successfully broke through into the nearly 30m deep Norgrove Avenue shaft after completing the last 300m from Rawalpindi Reserve.

This marks the completion of the tunnelling operations for the Link Sewer B and marks the end of her time on the project. But fear not, Domenica's journey doesn't end here! She will soon be relocated to a warehouse in Māngere for refurbishment before being sent off to her next destination!
