Turkish contractor Yapi Merkezi and Slovenian contractor Kolektor finish the excavation with with all tunnels on the second track route break through.
The contractors of the main construction work excavated the last meters of service pipes of the Lokev tunnel (T1) and Beka (T2). Now all 10 tunnel pipes are overwhelmed on the second track and 37.4 km of tunnels are excavated.
The Lokev and Beka tunnel are the longest tunnel on the second track route, the excavation was held in the Karst terrain and from both sides - Divaška and Koper. The Lokev tunnel service pipe (T1) measures 6683 meters, the breakthrough occurred 235 meters underground, and the service pipe of the Beka tunnel (T2) measures 6041 meters.
In the service pipe of the Lokev tunnel (T1), about 5 meters of the tunnel was dug daily on one forehead, because the excavation of the tunnel was from two directions, so we are talking about 10 meters of tunnel Kalota a day. In the service pipe of the Beka tunnel (T2), however, it recently encountered a larger karst phenomenon that has slowed the progress in construction last month. Co -randomly the city of breakthrough has happened in the Karst Cave, which is also the longest Karst cave, which was discovered and is 600 meters long. There is currently a rehabilitation of the Karst Cave.
The tunnels are now followed by a staircase, floor vault, waterproofing, an internal vault and other works, which were partly conducted concomitantly with excavations.
All tunnels on the second track route were built according to the new Austrian method (NATM). It is a cyclical method that is characterized by a short distance of a part of the tunnel in length, which depends on the geotechnical conditions, and directly after excavation, it is subordinated with supporting elements, which are mainly formed by sprayed concrete, anchors and support arches. The tunnel excavation was carried out by Kolektor and Yapi Merkezi. The Slovenian construction company performed excavation work in the longest tunnel on the route, the Lokev tunnel (T1) and partly in the last tunnel on the route, the Diocese tunnel (T8). Other excavation work was carried out by the Turkish workers of Yapi Merkezi.
