PKP Polish State Railways has announced a new tender. 'A fragment of the new railway line No. 622 will connect the newly designed Szczyrzyc station with the existing station Tymbark, located at the modernized railway line 104 (Chabówka – Nowy Sącz). This route will be the trains going from Krakow in the direction of Limanowa and Nowy Sącz. A more than a 6-kilometre track section will be adapted, as will the entire line “Podłęże-Piekieko”, up to 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains. The railway line in this place will run through the Podgórze area. Designers predicted the track through two tunnels (3.8 and 1 km long), bridges and railway viaducts. All crossroads of tracks with local roads will be collision-free. The investment will also build a traction network and a digital train control system, adapted to the latest European standards'. Their announcement specific to this tender reads;
"Podłęże-Piekiełko": There is a tender for the first section of the new railway line
We have announced a tender for the construction of the first section of the new railway line as part of the "Podłęże-Piekiełko" project. The tracks between Szczyrzyc and Tymbark will be led by two tunnels, viaducts and bridges. This part of the new railway connection in Lesser Poland will be ready in 2029. The estimated construction cost is over PLN 2 billion net, which will be financed from budgetary funds.
The press briefing of the Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak and the president of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. ended. Piotr Wyborki. The meeting with journalists in Zakopane was devoted to the changing conditions of traveling in the Lesser Poland region. Another element of efforts to transport transport is the construction of the "Podłęże - Piekiełko" railway line. The modernization and construction of new tracks will shorten the travel times by trains from Krakow to Zakopane and Nowy Sącz.
A fragment of the new railway line No. 622 will connect the newly designed Szczyrzyc station with the existing Tymbark station, located at the modernized 104 railway line (Chabówka - Nowy Sącz). This route will be moved by trains coming from Krakow towards Limanowa and Nowy Sącz. Over the 8-kilometer section of the track will be adapted, just like the whole line "Podłęże-Piekiełko", up to 160 km/h for passenger trains and 120 km/h for freight trains. The railway line in this place will run through the foothills. Designers have foreseen tracks, including through two tunnels (3.8 and 1 km long), bridges and railway viaducts. All intersections of tracks with local roads will be collision -free. As part of the investment, a traction network and a digital train traffic control system will also be built, adapted to the latest European standards.
In the middle of the built section, a new Stróża railway stop will be built. Thanks to the ramps and paths leading the platform, it will be adapted to the needs of people with a limited possibility of moving. The stop will be equipped with sheds, benches, information showcases and bicycle racks. It will be possible to quickly get from it, among others to Limanowa, Mszana Dolna or Gdów.
The implementation of the Szczyrzyc-Tymbark section is the first stage of building a new railway line as part of the Podłęże-Piekiełko project, the largest rail investment in southern Poland. Currently, advanced construction works are taking place with three other fragments of the modernized railway line No. 104 (Chabówka - Nowy Sącz), which is also part of this undertaking. Contractors work on the sections of Limanowo - Kneel Sinner, Klęczany Land - Nowy Sącz and Chabka - Rabka Zaryte. The modernization of the first fragments of this route will end next year, and by 2030 a new railway line will be created, which will connect Krakow with Podhale and Sądecczyzna. The fastest trains will go through the Krakow route - Nowy Sącz in about 60 minutes. However, a journey from the capital of Lesser Poland to Zakopane will take about 90 minutes. New opportunities for communication, tourist and transport development in Lesser Poland will be created. More about the project: http://www.podleze-piekieklek.pl
