    Moving work to the second tube in the Damsgårt tunnel upgrade

    Translation of Statens vegvesen's (The Norwegian Public Roads Administration) press release;

    Night to January 2, work in the Damsgård tunnel in Bergen starts again after Christmas holidays, and then the work will continue in the opposite tube.

    Since this summer, work on upgrading the tunnel at Rv.555 has been going on in the center towards the center, but now it is the race from the center towards Askøy/Sotra that is closed at night.

    Closing time will now be from 20:00 to 05.30 on weekdays, 8pm - 09.00 night to Saturday and 8pm - 10.00 night to Sunday. So the first closure after the New Year will be 01.01.25 at 20:00.

    Lots of new equipment

    - In the autumn we have, among other things, cast concrete edges throughout the tunnel run towards the center, laid drawer pipes and mounted new cable ladders and lights. We have also installed new emergency cabinets with control system and new fans, says construction manager Lennart Strøm in Statens vegvesen.

    In the westbound races, where they are now starting up, it remains to be completed the electrical work. The contractor will mount lights, new emergency stations and connect all new equipment. Then the tunnel enters a period of testing the technical equipment in May/June. OneCo Infra AS is the main contractor at the plant.

    Keeps the progress plan

    - We follow the progress plan at the work in the Damsgårt tunnel, and the project is planned to be completed in the fall of 2025. We regret that the audience must endure for a while with a disadvantage on the nights, but it will be better until summer and autumn, says construction manager Strøm.

    The work in the Damsgård tunnel takes a Christmas holiday from the morning of Sunday 21 December and until the evening on Wednesday 1 January. During this period there is free traffic around the clock.
