    On Friday, November 29, the smaller TBM Faustina shield ended the fourth single -track tunnel between Kozini and Kalisz on the route of the underground railway connection Łódź Fabryczna - Łódź Kaliska/Łódź Żabieniec. The shield overtook the schedule by nearly 2 months. Made tunnels will connect Łódź Kalisz and Łódź Żabieniec with a two -track tunnel to Łódź Fabryczna.     The TBM Faustina machine hollowed out the last, fourth single -tunnel tunnel 692 meters long in less than 100 days, i.e. about 3 months after the start of work. TBM Faustina set off from the Koziny stop towards Łódź Kaliska on August 26 this year. The schedule assumed that he would reach the chamber at al. Unia Lublin in January 2025.

    This is another acceleration in the tunnel drilling by Faustina. The penultimate tunnel was also built ahead of time. The machine drove an average of 8.3 meters a day and at the same time installed the housing. For this purpose, 457 rings were used, i.e. tunnel rings. Approx. 40 thousand were removed cubic meters of land. In the next stage, TBM will be extracted from the chamber using a specialized crane. The construction of a concrete substrate under the crane has already begun.

    TBM Faustyna hollowed out a total of 4 tunnels: from the chamber at ul. Długosza to the chamber at ul. Odolanowska (940 meters including the section under the Koziny stop), from ul. Odolanowska to the chamber at ul. Skarpowa (850 meters), from the chamber at ul. Żniawna to the Kozina stop (748 meters) and from the Kozina stop to the chamber at al. Unii Lublin (692 meters). The total length of the tunnels is 3230 meters.

    In this way, the connection of Łódź Żabieniec and Łódź Kaliska with the main two -track tunnel towards Łódź Fabryczna was provided.

    The investment is continued

    The large TBM shield Katarzyna hollowed about 1.34 km from 2.3 km of two -track tunnel. Katarzyna currently has a break under the tenement house on ul. May 1, 21. TBM was arrested on November 10 this year, when the sensors on the buildings began to indicate that the land under the tenement house was unstable. It was necessary to strengthen the ground. Additional geological tests are conducted before restarting the shield. Katarzyna's shield will start only after analyzing the results of this research.

    Work is carried out on the construction of three underground stops Łódź Polesie, Łódź Koziny and Łódź Śródmieście without interference. The advancement of the work significantly exceeded the halfway point. At the same time, a chamber for the TBM shield at Łódź Fabryczna is being built.

    Situation of residents on the Tunnel Construction route

    Almost all tenants of part of the tenement house at ul. Próchnika 44. Other people from ul. Próchnika 44 and al. 1 May 19, 21, 23 who had to leave their apartments for the time of building a cross -city tunnel still remain in hotels or rented apartments. Despite the efforts of the contractor and the investor, the return to tenement houses, for security reasons, is currently not possible. Each person can change the hotel into a flat or financial equivalent to rent an apartment. Only after issuing positive decisions will residents return to their premises. Returns will take place in stages.

    Representatives of the contractor, PBDIM from Minsk Mazowiecki, Investor, PLK SA and the City Hall of Łódź are in constant contact with residents. Due to the very difficult situation in which they found themselves, a help is offered to meet the needs of individual tenants.

    An agreement was concluded between the Management Board of Municipal premises of the Medical University and the contractor, in which the city has allocated a pool of apartments, and the company building the tunnel will thoroughly renovate them to the standards set by the manager. Real estate will go to families who lost their apartments as a result of a construction disaster of September 6. Some residents have already chosen target premises, some are still in the process of making decisions.

    People who stay in Łódź hotels have food, washing, access to refrigerators, parking spaces. However, more and more families due to the extending relocation are choosing to use alternative solutions for traditional hotels. They are offered and paid by the contractor equipped with basic equipment of the apartment in an apartment building, as well as real estate rented on their own and paid from financial equivalent.

    The tunnel connects Poland The construction of the underground connection of Łódź Fabryczna - Łódź Kaliska/Łódź Żabieniec is a continuation of the construction of the Łódź Fabryczna station, which will become a cruising from the end station. Regional and long -distance trains will drive through the very center of Łódź. Traveling by the city between current stations will be shorter.
