In line with the state budget, the project has announced a contract for rock and landslide protection of the construction area at Vaksdal, Stanghelle and Helle. The competition hosted as an open tender competition with a deadline of 10.02.25
Securing the construction area
The work includes cleansing and securing mountain scores and other measures to ensure the future construction areas and reduce the risk of landslides during the construction period. It is calculated that work will take about one year.
- The contract is decisive for the safety of the future construction areas where we will later start blasting for new tunnels for roads and railways, says project manager in the joint project Kari Bremnes.
Area that work will be carried out over future tunnels for roads and railway four cities on Vaksdal, one city in the bar and an area on Helle. The area it will be working in is close to today's E16, and there will sometimes be manual routing and short -term stopping in traffic while the work goes on. Project manager Bremnes says they will plan work on regard to major outbreaks, to be judged in connection with sports events.
Decisions about investment come sadly this spring
Construction starts for the project itself with new tunnels for roads and railways, cross -sections and mountain halls, the decision in the Storting on cost framework and partial toll funding. The Government has signaled that they will submit a proposal for the Handsaming Storting this spring.
Facts about the project
The project is a community between Bane NOR and Statens vegvesen (the Norwegian Public Roads Administration) where roads and lanes are expanded at the same time, from Arna outside Bergen, to Stanghelle in Vaksdal municipality. Due to the western topography with steep mountains and deep fjords, the route should be in all main things laid in the tunnel. The joint project Arna-Stanghelle will increase traffic safety, pre-transport transport, increase capacity for goods on the track and reduced travel time.
This is how new roads and lanes are:
An important part of the joint project Arna-Stanghelle is the construction tunnels and mountain halls that, via shafts, will lead the masses from the tunnels to the landfill in 300 meters deep in the Sørfjord. These shafts will be placed strategically to ensure efficient transport of surplus masses from the tunnel construction. The shafts will help to reduce the need for transport on public roads, which will reduce the environmental failure and traffic congestion in the area. Landfjord in the Sørfjord is carefully expired and approved by the state manager to ensure that the masses are handled in a safe way and most possible gentle way for the surroundings.
