A solution for traffic jams in Elon Musk's Vegas Loop tunnels: Use Trolleybus instead of small Tesla cars

I am sure many have seen the video of traffic congestion in Vegas Loop tunnel with small Tesla electric cars piled up each other. This tunnel was supposed to solve the traffic jams over the ground. Obviously driving small Teslas at 30km per hour is not really scalable. Those Teslas were supposed to be moved around at high speeds on tray-like structures. Obviously Elon Musk could not achieve that technology level. Probably it will not be there for another 10 years.

At least until Elon Musk keeps its promises for a Vegas Loop which transports cars at high speed, as an interim solution, I propose Vegas Loop uses trolleybuses that Prague Transport Company DPP has recently ordered. Trolleybus is basically a fully electric-powered bus. It uses overhead electric cables to run and when they are not available, it is powered by its batteries. So; instead of transporting max 5 people in a Tesla, a trolleybus can transport between 100-200 people depending on its configuration. So; one e-Bus can transport what 20-40 Teslas can transport at a given time. Can you imagine the traffic jam 20 or 40 Teslas can cause?

Below is the English translation of Transport Company of Prague DPP press release.

DPP to buy the first seven Bozankaya SNG T12 trolleybuses

    20. 02. 2025

Prague, 20 February 2025  Transport Company of the Capital City. Prague (DPP) on the basis of a framework contract with Bozankaya concluded in January this year, ordered the first seven batter trolleybuses Bozankaya SNG T12. The implementing contract for vehicles, as well as six sets of hardware and software for the diagnosis of trolleybus defects and one charger with a total value of CZK 96.34 million excluding VAT, both parties concluded these days. All trolleybuses, including accessories, the supplier undertakes to deliver the DPP within 12 months of the contract, i.e. from its publication in the register of contracts.

The home garage of vehicles will be Řepy, where the DPP is currently building up to 37 outdoor charging stations for trolleybuses at the same time as the construction of infrastructure for electrification of the bus line No. 137. After its operation, it will be changed to trolleybus line No. 52. According to the contract with the contractors, the association of companies OHLA ŽS and Elektrizace Praha, the construction should be completed and handed over to the DPP until 30 April 2026. Currently ordered trolleybuses are designed to ensure operation on line no. 52.
