    Paul K. Madsen

Five contractors had signed up in the competition to operate electrical installations along the national roads inland when the deadline for offer expired on March 5.

The contractor selected will operate and maintain electrical in the tunnels on the national road network inland, including Øvre Romerike, as well as signaling systems, wind alert systems and other electrical systems along the roads. Statens vegvesen (The Norwegian Public Roads Administration) is the client.

The contract is valid from September 1, 2025 and five years to come, with the possibility of another three years.

Five competes for the Inland Contract

These contractors have provided offers for the operation and maintenance of electrical installations along the national and European roads in the Inland and Øvre Romerike:

    • LAJE AS
    • Mesta AS
    • Set Elektro AS
    • Traffic Technology AS
    • Traftec as

Statens vegvesen will now control and quality assure the offers before contracts are signed during the spring.
    Award criteria

When allocating the contract is the lowest price that applies, but there is also a requirement that at least 90 per cent of the use of light vehicles should be done with zero -emission vehicles.

Lots of technology along the roads

The electrical contract for the Inland and Øvre Romerike includes operation and maintenance of electrical installations in 18 tunnels in addition to a number of traffic control facilities on and along the roads.

The electrical installations and plants are in many cases crucial to safety, providing road users with useful information and contributing to good preparedness. Examples of important safety installations are cameras in the tunnel. When an event occurs in the tunnel, the cameras will immediately register, alert and transfer images to the Road Traffic Center.

    - In addition, inland, we have critical equipment such as shut -offs on mountain crossings, and we have a height warning system that will alert heavy trucks that are too high in relation to the tunnel - to name something that is a bit scattered for this electrical contract, says project manager for Elektro, Lars Magnar Magnar Allergodt.
