It is now clear who will build the new E134 between Røldal and Seljestad
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) has appointed the joint venture Bertelsen & Garpestad and Metrostav Norge to build the new Røldal tunnel on the E134 between Røldal and Seljestad.
The tender for the turnkey contract was announced on 4 June 2024, and after the prequalification, four contractors were invited to submit bids.
The project is located between Røldal and Seljestad in Ullensvang municipality in Vestland county. The contract has a value of NOK 2.8 billion excl. VAT.
Development Director Kjell Inge Davik looks forward to the start of construction on the section, which is an important part of the transport routes on the E134 between east and west.
– The new Røldal Tunnel will provide a safer and more efficient road section during the winter, which will strengthen the road's role as a transport corridor between East and West Norway, comments Kjell Inge Davik.
Signing contract towards the end of the month
The Norwegian Public Roads Administration aims to sign a contract with the joint venture Bertelsen & Garpestad and Metrostav Norge AS at the end of the month, after the appeal deadline has expired. Construction work is scheduled to start during the summer of 2025, and the road is scheduled to open in 2031.
Should strengthen the road on an important traffic artery between East and West
The project has been announced as a turnkey contract, and includes the design and construction of a single-lane tunnel between Seljestad and Røldal with day zones and intersections at each end. E134 is one of the main connections between East and West, and the new tunnel will provide a safer road and shorter travel times. The contract includes the construction of:
