Marked breakthroughs in the Fåberg tunnel

With that, an important milestone is achieved in the project. The Fåberg tunnel is a 2.8 kilometer long two -run tunnel, which is part of the new E6 between Storhove and Øyer in the Inland. The AF Group is building the road for Nye Veier.

    - This is a big day for all of us. The impact is a clear and concrete proof of progress, and marks an important milestone for anyone who has worked on this important transport project. The E6 is the main road through the country, and the new road will benefit road users, business and preparedness. I would like to thank the AF Group for good cooperation and well -done work, says project manager Steinar Fretheim in Nye Veier.

Over 1,200 blasts have been carried out in the two tunnel runs since its inception in January 2024, and more than 450,000 cubic meters of pulp has been transported. The project has encountered challenging mountain quality during driving, with sometimes demanding geological conditions and extensive hedging work.

    - Establishment in the Fåberg tunnel is an important milestone for the project. Four skilled shifts have driven competent and securely through alternating, demanding mountains. Furthermore, the Fåbergtunnel has been a good arena for contributing to the industry with tunnel competence - as many as six apprentices have completed their apprenticeship, and completed a professional test in connection with the Fåbergtunnel. I would like to thank you for the professional collaboration and confidence New Roads have given us in this project. Furthermore, I would like to thank affected neighbors for the patience, says project manager Anja Krohn Bjørnstad in the AF Gruppen.

The apprentices Robin Årevik, Lisell Storstein and Levi Slettedal fired from the last ointment in the tunnel. Workers and invited guests noticed the sound and power of 1000 kilos of explosives, even though the spectators stood at a safe distance in the second run of the tunnel.

Afterwards, speeches and baptisms were made by the noise. It is old custom to splash liquor in the mountains after a successful tunnel driving. The attendees were also served marzipan cake. The drawer of a dumpper worked as a table.

    A lot of work remains

Although the tunnel is now completed, it is far from finished. Trenches and roads will be built, and the tunnel will be water and frost protected. The last part of the job involves installing technical infrastructure such as lighting, fans, fire extinguishing equipment and safety systems. Then all the systems must be tested before it can be approved and opened for traffic.

The new E6 between Storhove and Øyer is one of three parts in the larger development of the new E6 through Inland. Nye Veier and AF Gruppen also collaborate on the construction of the 23 -kilometer stretch of neighboring from Storhove and south to Roterud.
