Three kilometers of lane are renewed; Safety update for Tunnel Massenberg and Niklasdorf.
Since Monday, March 17th, the preparatory work for a major project on the S 6 Semmering expressway, which is renewed over a length of just over three kilometers in the Leoben-Ost area. The traffic routing will be set up, the medium strips are expanded and the markings installed. The overtaking traces must be blocked for this work. The main construction phase will start from mid-April, in which the St. Michael directional lane between Niklasdorf and Massenberg tunnel will be fundamentally renovated this year until the end of October. During this time, traffic is led on the Leebenstein directional lane, and only one lane is available per direction of travel. In 2026 it is the turn of the Leebenstein directional lane.
The pace is reduced to 80 km/h in the open -air area, in the Massenberg tunnel, which must also be managed in oncoming traffic, to 60 km/h for safety reasons.
