2 Years on since the start of tunnelling, excavation in length has almost reached the two thirds of the 6600 meters of the tunnel. AF Gruppen are the contractors.

Excavation rate is 60-100 meters every week. This is despite the fact that blasting work is not carried out between 11pm and 7am on weekdays (but sealing, drilling & piling continues though). So far 1426 blastings performed, 19500 safety bolts installed and 13500 cubic meters of shotcrete used.

The new power cables should be in operation by 2029.
