Two CREG TBMs start boring new tunnels for Copenhagen, Denmark

The respected Polish engineering news publication inzynieria.com reports that on January 13th, two CREG (China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co., Ltd.) tunnel boring machines have started boring new tunnels in Copenhagen. (Also the tunnel in Świnoujście in Poland will use a CREG TBM)

inzynieria.com is widely followed by Polish engineers, businessmen and bureaucrats. As such, it not only informs over the projects in Poland but also about new technological and notable infrastructural developments around Poland and also aroung the world.

inzynieria.com says the two TBMS are Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) TBMs with a diameter of 5.81 m. Together they will bore twin tunnels of 4.4 kilometer long. The tunnels to connect the centre of  Copenhagen with Sydhavnen (port are in the south of the city). It is written that it is a curved route with min. 249 meter and a decrease of 6%.

The 460 million Euro project has contractors of Hochtief Infrastructure and Vinci Construction Grands Projets. That 5 stations will be built and the contractors will also build electrical, mechanical systems, interior architecture and ventilation. It will finish in 2023.

This is I think part of the larger scheme of Cityringen project.
