Lack of Chinese manpower halts work at Khimti-2 Hydroelectric Project and Langtang Khola Hydroelectric Projects. This is because the Chinese workers who left for Chinese new year are unable to come back due to travel restrictions imposed for Corona virus outbreak. Tunnel excavation work is left and ca not continue without the Chinese workers.
500 Chinese workers work for the Khimti-2 project and 200 for the Langtang Khola project. A Chinese company that goes with the name Chongqing Water Turbine Works (CWTW) is the contractor responsible for the construction of the both projects with Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Financing (EPCF) model.
The under-construction Rasuwgadhi Hydropower Project in Rasuwa has most disturbing two problems: weak geological conditions and lack of Chinese manpower because of Corona virus.
