It is funny but this is what Joost van Keulen, the former Wethouder (similar to Alderman in UK) who lobbied to bring the Hardt Hyperloop Test Center to Groningen says:

"We had a club of entrepreneurs in Groningen who tried to get Formula 1 to Assen last year. That did not work. But that tasted like more. .... So when it came out that Groningen and Zeeland were still in the race for this test center, we put our heads together,"

He is from the economically liberal, right wing, business friendly and populist VVD party. By the way, it turned out that they had pimped up their bid to look better than it is to get the hyperloop test center in their province and in the process forgot to inform the citizens. Typical VVD.
