Salisbury Journal claims the plans for the Stonehenge tunnel set to be scrapped. The journal says the reason for the cancellation of the project is the high costs. The 1.8 mile long tunnel was expected to cost over £2 billion. Supposedly Boris Johnson is not prepared to pay for it.
The proposed link would be upgrade of the A303 and provide a fast link to the south west of England.
Journal reports that the decision rests with the Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps and "some are anticipating the axe to fall in time for the budget on March 11".
