HS2 Ltd, the owner of the High Speed 2 project, gets the official Notice to Proceed (NTP) from UK's Department for Transport for the contracts worth £12bn included the Phase 1 of the project.

The approved work fall into the following lots, all in Phase 1:

Work (£3.3 Billion)
Project Phase 1- Lot S1: Euston Tunnels and Approaches
Project Phase 1- Lot S2: Northolt Tunnels
Contractors:
SCSJV (Skanska Costain Strabag JV = Skanska Construction UK Ltd, Costain Ltd, STRABAG AG)

Work (£1.6 Billion):
Project Phase 1- Lot C1: Chiltern Tunnels and Colne Valley Viaduct
Contractors:
Align JV (Bouygues Travaux Publics SAS, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, Sir Robert McAlpine and VolkerFitzpatrick)

Work (£2.3 Billion):
Project Phase 1- Lot C2: North Portal Chiltern Tunnels to Brackley
Project Phase 1- Lot C3: Brackley to South Portal of Long Itchington Wood Green Tunnel
Contractors:
EKFB JV (Eiffage Genie Civil SA, Kier Infrastructure and Overseas Ltd, BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial Agroman)

Work (£4.8 Billion):
Project Phase 1- Lot N1:Long Itchington Wood Green Tunnel to Delta Junction and Birmingham Spur
Project Phase 1- Lot N2 :Delta Junction to West Coast Main Line Tie-In
Contractors:
BBV JV (Balfour Beatty - VINCI JV = Balfour Beatty Group Ltd, VINCI Construction Grands Projets, VINCI Construction UK Ltd, VINCI Construction Terrassement)

HS2 Project Plan is composed of two Phases. Phase 1 and Phase 2 (which is further split into Phase 2a and Phase 2b).

• Phase 1 - from London to the Birmingham (West Midlands)
• Phase 2 - from the West Midlands to Leeds and Manchester
