Kevin Browning, the managing director of Global Tunnelling Experts (GTE) calls the UK government to exempt the Hinkley Point C tunnelling workers from the compulsory quarantine.
UK government, as a part of their plan to gradually ease the coronavirus lockdown, had announced the plans for 14 day quarantine period for anyone coming into the country.
The managing director of GTE says 15% of their workforce is comprised of Irish nationals critical to the project. He goes on saying that any quarantine would not only mean delays but also endanger the safety of tunnelling work.
Global Tunnelling Experts i a subsidiary of Germany's Herrenknecht AG. GTE mainly provides services and personnel for tunneling projects and has presence all over the world.
