Norway's national road administration Nye Veier has announced plans for new tunnels in Åsen. Three tunnels plannedon the route of E6. One around 2 kilometers long to the east of  Åsen centrum, one 300 meters long under Grubbåsen and another one 1.5 kilometers long via Ramshåmmåren in the Vuddudalen.

Nye Veier is realistic about the costs and the difficulties involved with the tunnels.Local newspaper Frostingen writes Nye Veier has done a through analysis of the ground conditions with more than 700 survey drills. The area is rich in quick clay and other difficult conditions and Nye Veier is said to have no illusions over the cost of building tunnels in the area
