Tunel Świnoujście provide an update yesterday (May 25) and say that Covid-19 does not interfere with the Świna tunnel construction. Work on the construction site proceed for the PLN 800 million tunnel. Per plans the 3.4 km underwater tunnel will be ready by September 2022.
Manufacturing of the 13.5 meter diameter and 2740 tones Tunnel Boring Machine is also in advanced state at CREG factory in China. It will come to Poland after the holiday season and boring will start in the first half of 2021.
On the construction sites work progress per plan. Foundations of the Spoil Separation Plant are visible on the Uznam island side of the planned tunnel. The segment production plant is almost finished on this part of Świnoujście. Work in progress for the assembly of reinforcement baskets. Diaphragm walls for the start chamber of the tunnel boring machine are also being built.
While on the Wolin island site, high voltage pole foundations are implemented and also in this area medium voltage lines rearranged.
To avoid coronavirus, all meetings are conducted as video conference. Employees avoid direct contact. Instead they call each other via the phones. Contractor GULERMAK applies procedures of the Chief Sanitary Inspector and the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
