Chinese companies dominant in Bosnia Tunnel Kvanj-Buna

 

JP Autoceste FBiH is Bosnian state company responsible for the build and operation of roads.

JP Autoceste FBiH write on their official internet site on May19, 2020: there is great interest for tender of  construction of the highway on Corridor VC, section Mostar South - Buna, subsection Tunnel Kvanj - Buna.
It is design and build (yellow FIDIC) contract with estimated 36 month construction time.

The Kvanj - Buna Tunnel subsection is 5.2 km long. Important parts of the work is building of Kvanj two-tube tunnel (the 2,645 m long right tube tunnel and the 2,720 m long left tube tunnel) , the 320 m long Rotimski viaduct and the overpass. Also, regional road Buna - Domanovići of 14.5 km will be reconstructed.

Most companies are from China. The rest from Bosnia, Turkey and Azerbaijan.

There are 9 groups of companies bid and 5 of them from China:

  • AGE Insaat ve Ticaret Anonymous Sirketi - Turkey & LLC (Turkey);
  • Joint Venture: China Second Metallurgy Group Co. Ltd - China & Guizhou Transportation Planning Survey - Design Academe Co. Ltd - China (China);
  • China Railway 14th Bureau Group Co. Ltd - China (China);
  • Euro-asfalt doo - Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

I give list in the order listed in JP Autoceste FBiH website. It is not in alphabetic order. I don't know what order they used.

The Kvanj - Buna Tunnel sub-section financed from funds provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB) in the amount of EUR 100 million, and it has also been applied for EU grants through the Connecting Agenda through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF).

In January this year, the sub-section was cleared of mines and explosives, which created the conditions for the safe continuation of the construction of the highway on Corridor VC in the south.

The construction of the section Mostar South - Buna, which is divided into two subsections Mostar South - Tunnel Kvanj and Tunnel Kvanj - Buna, will connect Mostar with the European motorway network and form a functional uninterrupted motorway from the Bijača border to the entrance to Mostar. invaluable for BiH citizens, companies and entrepreneurs.
