Despite the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19, County Council moves forward with the implementation of the tunnel project. The planned 3037metre-long tunnel will link Artaza (Getxo) and Ballonti (Sestao).

The awarded part is 8.9 million of the project which is estimated to cost around 410 million euros. Construction will start in 2023. It was estimated that it woul be completed in 2027 but already some changes pushed the completion date to 2028.
