Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) re-launches probe into the Penang undersea tunnel project
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) arrested old Penang Port Commission Chairman Jeffrey Chew Gim Eam. Arrest happen a few days ago. Press write it s about corruption case in the Penang Tunnel project.
Project is famous with delay. RM6.3 billion project has roads and a submarine tunnel. Press write only for feasibility study spent RM305 million. Last year a business man was charged 68 money laundering cases for this tunnel. Now MACC relaunch probe. We don't know at this time what other people also indicted.

Betty Chew, the former wife of former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng, says she was shocked that she was also a suspect accused of money laundering in the MACC investigation in relation to the RM6.3 billion Penang underwater tunnel project.

Betty Chew, the the wife of former Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng has been charged Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds from Illegal Activities (AMLA) Act 2001. Her charges related to a private company, Excel Property Management and Consultancy Sdn Bhd.
The former wife had arrived to MACC Georgetown headquarters with her brother-in-law, Lim Hui Ying to testify when she was arrested.
