Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announces the Wayanad Tunnel Road project. The project will be overseen by the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL). The tunnel will be a 6.8 kilometer long tunnel with two lanes. It will be the longest road tunnel in Kerala. The project will be finished in 3 years.
The state has already allocated Rs 658 crore for the project.
Forest department claims no survey sanctioned for the construction of Wayanad tunnel road announced by the Chief Minister.
The road is envisaged as an alternative route to the 13-km Thamarassery Ghat road along the Kozhikode-Wayanad-Bengaluru highway.
