The Boring Company of Elon Musk posts a suggestive tween (image) hinting some tunneling work in Austin, TX. Remarkably, TBC also posts 8 Austin based job vacancies on its website.
Could it be the case that The Boring Company will be pitching for Austing tunneling projects? But then, why would you hire for electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and yet one Business Development position in that case? Certainly TBC would not need so many engineers for a pre-sales organization. Also remarkable is that there are no geological or tunnel engineers.
Could it be that Elon Musk has chosen Austin for establishing a research site for trying out Prufrock TBM design? Remember that perfect TBM that would be 10-to-15 times faster than the current TBM designs and moreover uses the excavated material as "bricks" for tunnel lining?
If you come up with a radical new design, you would not really push that design on hard rock geology. Chalk would be a perfect smooth start. I don't know, just speculating.

Austin's Capital Metro spokeswoman denies the knowledge of any The Boring Company involvement, while saying they are always cooperating with public and private companies.

Don't count on that Dave. The guy has Tesla factories in China already. What stops him to keep TBM production in US?
There are now rumors that The Boring Company may have more bigger plans about Austin. Like moving its headquarters there. According to an article published in Austin Business Journal, The Boring Company got a large space in an industrial park in Pflugerville, a small town located about 14 miles northeast of downtown Austin.
