News of rejection by the French side for a new transalpine tunnel is grossly exaggerated according to La Guida. Misunderstanding is due to French delegate being quoted out of context.

It writes that "It is not true that France has rejected the hypothesis of re-evaluating the project of the low tent, between Vievola and Panice sottana (Limone) proposed by the administrators and parliamentarians of the territory to the Government".

The Italian and French sides talk about a lower altitude Tenda tunnel to remove the upper Roya Valley from the isolation that is especially bad in winter. 

The idea is still a loose idea. A hypothesis.
