Spanish company Acciona selects the the Norwegian construction company LNS (Leonhard Nilsen og Sønner) as their first major subcontractor for E6 Ranheim-Værnes highway tunnels construction.
Acciona builds the a 23-kilometer four-lane motorway along the current E6 Ranheim-Værnes route as awarded by Norwegian State Road Company Nye Veier. Work includes three 2-lane tunnels.
Byggeindustrien writes that LNS will be working for the 1770m long Stavsjø tunnel as well as the half of the 1950m long Hell tunnel. This work will be performed from January 2021 to the summer of 2022. This corresponds to about half of all tunnel construction in the project. As it is now, Acciona itself will be doing the rest of the tunnelling. The subcontract amount agreed between Acciona and LNS has not been disclosed. The contract amount for the whole project is NOK 5.2 billion. Construction has already started in September 2020.

ACCIONA has chosen its first major subcontractor, LNS AS, to deliver one of the biggest road projects in the Trøndelag region in recent years, the E6 highway between Ranheim and Værnes.
The company, committed to forging strong partnerships with Norwegian businesses, has selected on LNS AS to carry out tunneling work on the E6 Ranheim-Værnes upgrade.
The E6 Ranheim-Værnes upgrade is being built for Nye Veier, the Norwegian state road agency. It includes the design and construction of a 23 km four-lane highway along the current E6 route, including three double tunnels. The project has a budget of NOK 5.2 billion and will be completed in 2025.
Construction work began on 1st September 2020. The upgrade involves the expansion of the highway from two to four lanes and will improve mobility in the northern part of Trøndelag county. In addition to improved traffic flow and safety, the project will reduce the travel time by five minutes.

ACCIONA chose LNS AS as a subcontractor because of their extensive experience with large transport projects in Norway.

As a subcontractor, LNS AS will work on the Stavsjø tunnel, which has a length of 1770 meters, and half of the Hell tunnel, which corresponds to 1950 meters. The tunnel work will take place from January 2021 until the summer of 2022.

The E6 Ranheim-Værnes is the third major project undertaken by ACCIONA, a global infrastructure and renewable energy company, since its arrival in Norway in 2015. The company is finalizing work on the EPC TBM Follo Line project, linking Oslo to Ski, and has also started work on another major rail project for Bane Nor, the Sandbukta – Moss – Såstad (SMS2A). In all of ACCIONA’s projects in Norway, partnering with local companies has been a priority.
