A new report commissioned by NY governor Andrew Cuomo says that it is possible to repair the existing cross-Hudson tunnels without hindering the traffic, which was a major reason for building a new tunnel.
This is durprising, as Andrew Cuomo has long been seen as one of the champions of the new $13 Billion rail tunnel. He even lobbied President Trump for its finding. He had also agreed with then-New Jersey governor Chris Christie to share the costs in half.
Facing the criticism, Cuomo says the report does not preclude the construction of new tunnels. "It only says that the existing tunnels can be repaired".
"The Big Dog thinks he knows the best plan for an essential, but long-stalled, rail project. What is he doing?"
