As a part of the upgrade for the Great Western Highway, NSW government pushes ahead with the plans to build a 4-lane road tunnel underneath Blackheath in the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney.
Reportedly government has shortlisted two options of one with 4km long and another 4.5 km long.

Up until Transport for NSW deadline of November 28, almost 2,000 people had their say over the plans for either a short or a long tunnel under Blackheath. Campaigners believe that the majority have chosed for the 4.5 kilometres long tunnel over the 4 kilometres one. The shorter option would impact 12 homes.
