Larsen & Toubro (L&T) comes out as the lowest bidder for the Package 4 of Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail Line. L&T's offer of Rs. 3337.60 crores beats Gulermak ( Rs. 3484.34 crores), Afcons (Rs 3790.80 crores) and Megha Engineering and Infrastructure (MEIL) which offered Rs. 4019.93 crores.

What is important with this package is that it has 15.1 kilometer long tunnel construction. Both Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) and NATM tunnelling methods are envisioned for Package 4. Metro Rail News reports that at least 2 TBMs will be put into use for the task.
