Job: Assistant Tunnel Engineer, Madrid, Spain

    Reporting to the Senior Engineer, as an Assistant Engineer in the tunnel design team, you will be working in a world leading engineering discipline, supporting project delivery and client relationships.
    You will be provided with support from the team who will mentor and guide you through working towards your professional qualification and additional training.
    You’ll be involved in undertaking design of various underground and tunnelling assets as well as prepare documents, reports and Health & Safety risk assessments. In addition, you will manage and respond to commercial and contractual issues on various projects within the tunnels team.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Involvement in a project or small portfolio of projects of various sizes from conception through to completion
    • Understanding technical engineering codes and practices and taking a 'hands on' role in technical matters
    • Interfacing and coordinating with professionals on multidisciplinary projects

    Candidate Specification

    As an Engineer within the structural, geotechnics or tunnelling industry, ideally you have practical experience in tunnel design. Through your attention to detail and ability to make informed judgements, you are able to apply your technical knowledge in numerical analysis or Finite Element Modelling to analyse problems and create solutions. With your interpersonal skills, you’re able to work and communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and have the ability to work using your own initiative. Additionally, you’re interested in developing your professional career and enjoy learning on the job with an interest in working towards your Chartership.

    You will be able to demonstrate the following:

    • MEng/MSc (or equivalent) in a Civil Engineering discipline
    • Knowledge of the tunnels industry
    • Experience using digital delivery systems such as ProjectWise, SharePoint etc.
    • Flexible approach to work with the ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively
    • Fluency in verbal and written English
